Ask Unc — Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Break Free Lifestyle Ltd ("we", "us", "Ask Unc") governing your use of the Ask Unc mobile app (the "App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. What Ask Unc is

Ask Unc is a comedy and entertainment app. "Unc" is a fictional AI character who roasts you and then offers general, everyday advice. Replies are generated by artificial intelligence. Ask Unc is offered in the United States only.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old to use Ask Unc. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. By using the App you confirm you meet these requirements.

3. Not professional advice

Unc's replies are for entertainment and general information only. They are not professional advice and are not a substitute for a qualified professional. In particular, Unc does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, tax, or safety advice. AI can be wrong, outdated, or made up — verify anything important and consult a licensed professional before acting on it. You are solely responsible for what you do with Unc's replies.

4. Not an emergency or crisis service

Ask Unc is not a crisis, counseling, or emergency service and is not monitored by humans in real time. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741, or call 911.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the App for anything unlawful, harmful, or abusive;
  • try to make Unc produce illegal content, instructions for harming people, sexual content involving minors, or other prohibited content;
  • attempt to extract, reverse engineer, or discover the App's underlying prompts, models, or source code, except to the extent the law allows;
  • interfere with, overload, scrape, or attack the App or its backend, or use bots or automated means to access it;
  • resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App or its content without our permission.

We may limit, suspend, or terminate access if you violate these Terms.

6. Your questions and content

You keep ownership of the questions you submit. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to process and store your questions and the resulting answers to operate and improve the App — including keeping an anonymized cache of common questions and answers as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to submit it.

7. Subscriptions and payments

The App offers free use subject to a daily question limit and may offer a paid "Unc Pro" subscription for additional features.

  • Purchases and subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through your App Store account, subject to Apple's terms.
  • Paid subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store account settings.
  • Prices and features may change; we will give notice as required. Except where required by law or Apple's policies, payments are non-refundable.

8. Intellectual property

The App, the "Unc" character, artwork, text, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial use. All rights not granted are reserved.

9. Third-party services

The App relies on third-party providers (including Supabase, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Apple, and, if subscriptions are offered, RevenueCat). We are not responsible for third-party services, and their terms and privacy policies apply to their parts of the service.

10. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that Unc's replies will be accurate or suitable.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR RELIANCE ON) THE APP OR UNC'S REPLIES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of the App or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the App.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms or the App. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice in the App. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, United Kingdom, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree that the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any disputes, except where mandatory law (for example, consumer-protection law where you live) gives you other rights.

16. Apple App Store terms

These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. To the extent the App is obtained through Apple's App Store, you also agree that:

  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
  • If the App fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or consumer-protection claims.
  • Apple is not responsible for third-party claims that the App or your use of it infringes intellectual-property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. embargo or designated as "terrorist-supporting," and are not on any U.S. prohibited-parties list.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
